National Journalist Association Chittagong North District Committee has been formed.  In the general meeting of the organization, Nurul Alam and general secretary Hasan Mehedi were unanimously nominated as the president.  On September 2 (Friday), a general meeting was held at the organization’s Chittagong office in Chittagong Dewanhat Mortuza Bhavan.

The meeting was chaired by Chittagong divisional committee president Khairul Islam and divisional committee general secretary Kefayet Ullah Kaiser was present as the chief guest.  Alamgir Gani.  Muhammad Kamrul Islam, joint general secretary of the central committee, was present as a special guest.

In the meeting, the formation and reorganization of committees of Chittagong North District, South District, Chittagong Metropolis and all different upazilas of the organization were discussed.  In the meeting, Mirsrai Press Club President Nurul Alam was nominated as President and Professor Hasan Mehdi as General Secretary.

Nurul Alam has been actively involved in media since 1996 for 26 years.  He is currently serving as the second term president-elect of Mirsrai Press Club.  He is also involved with various social and religious institutions, mosques, madrassas and humanitarian organizations.

On the other hand, General Secretary Hasan Mehedi Sitakund is a lecturer in Bengali Department of Latifa Siddiqa Degree College.  He is serving as Chittagong District Representative of National Daily and Weekly.

National Association of Journalists was established on February 12, 1982.  The organization has been working relentlessly for the professional development of journalists and the welfare of journalists nationwide for 41 years.
